The Drouin Rotary Club’s Christmas produce and craft market next Saturday 19th December will coincide with its 14th birthday, and present indications are that it will set another record for the number of stallholders in attendance.
The Club’s Market organiser, John Tricarico, said that additional features will include free treats for the children and a visit by Santa from 10am, while the Rotary barbecue and the popular coffee stall will be operating as usual. As a “thank you” for the ongoing support received from the many stallholders, a lucky draw for them will be held during the morning
The monthly markets, held on the third Saturday each month in Civic Park, Young Street, Drouin, and the annual Motorfest and the Swap Meet are the Club’s main fund-raisers for its range of projects which mainly are local causes, but also include national emergency relief and some international Rotary programs.
The Market has recently contributed to the Warragul Municipal Band’s plan to compete in the National Band Championships next year by providing financial support from the Market proceeds.

ROTARY MARKET HELPS KEEP BAND PLAYING ONThe Warragul Municipal Band’s plan to compete in the National Band Championships next year has been given a boost, thanks to the Drouin Rotary Club’s monthly Produce and Craft Market.
The Band has a busy travelling schedule for the next few months and is fundraising to enable it to attend the National Championships in South Australia in March 2016.
To support the Band, the Rotary Club of Drouin has donated $250.00. The funds are part of the proceeds of the monthly market.
The Rotary Club has been operating the market for around 13 years, with all proceeds being donated back into the Drouin and Warragul communities in the form of support for a wide range of projects and community groups.
The market operates on the third Saturday morning of every month in Civic Park with around 50 stallholders selling a range of products from fresh fruit, vegetables and cakes to clothing, plants and wooden toys.

New Rotary Year - New President & New BoardWithout doubt the highlight evening of any Rotary year is the Changeover Dinner that marks the end of a Rotary year and the terms of office of its Directors and Leadership team. It is an opportunity to reflect on and celebrate the success of the previous year through the experienced eyes of the outgoing leadership and acknowledge all who contributed to outstanding achievements in fundraising, support of community and international organisations, whilst maintaining a high level of goodwill and fellowship.

Drouin RC Vistis Centenary House TraralgonMembers and partners enjoyed the trip to Traralgon last week. Sue Elliott was an interesting tour guide and for those of us who hadn’t been there before, it was an eye opener. Gippsland Rotary Centenary House was an initiative of the former Latrobe group of Rotary clubs, including Drouin, and is strongly supported by all clubs across the region. The name of the facility acknowledges the Centenary of Rotary International in 2005. Centenary House offers low cost, supportive accommodation on a temporary basis for patients and families who are attending the new Gippsland Cancer Care Centre and families of in-patients who would otherwise need to travel unreasonable distances to be with their loved ones.

With Australia Day in 2015 falling approximately mid-way between the centenary of the commencement of World War I and the centenary of the ANZACS’ landing on Gallipoli, the Breakfast will adopt a theme appropriate to these occasions and recognising the involvement of servicemen and women and indeed, the community as a whole, in this and subsequent actions in which Australia has been involved over the years. In keeping with this theme, the guest speaker will be well-known local identity, Brian Milner, a Vietnam veteran and prominent worker in the RSL and Legacy organisations.
